About the event

Darkness  can often teach us the most about ourselves. The Winter Solstice is the  day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight, and it marks the  start of astronomical winter. After the winter solstice, days start  becoming longer and nights shorter as spring approaches. This years  Winter Solstice is particularly special because Jupiter and Saturn will  form a rare "Christmas Star"!

On December 21, Jupiter and Saturn  will appear closer in Earth’s night sky than they have since 1226 A.D.  Astronomers are calling it the Great Conjunction of 2020.

The  last time Jupiter and Saturn were this close together was in a time when  Genghis Khan was conquering large swaths of Asia, and Europe was still  generations away from the Renaissance! (Source: Astronomy.com) How cool  is that?

ART PROJECT DETAILS:

We will  participate in an expressive arts process creating and exploring the  symbolism behind the winter solstice and creating our own unique candle  holder. Taylor will guide you through the process. Suggested supplies: mason jar or recycled glass jar, glue (mod podge or elmers), paint brush, magazines, tissue paper, tea light or small candle, small stones or rice, scissors, small sticks/twigs,  any other embellishments you may have! Nearly all supplies can be  purchased at the dollar store or follow the links to purchase at amazon.

This event is 100% Virtual and a Zoom link will be emailed to you when you register. This is a donation based experience and heart centered donations are greatly appreciated.
